A year ago, our team came in strong here, ready to make our mark and open the best boba shop ever. As soon as we landed, we hit up a bunch of local tea spots to do some market research. And honestly? While there were some solid places (like OMOMO and TOROTEA, definitely check them out if you’re around), most shops were still using creamer powder and all kinds of colorful juice syrups and jam. We were like, SERIOUSLY?

Right after, we reached out to several big local bubble tea ingredient suppliers, sampled all sorts of stuff, thinking we’d nail it in no time. Well… reality hit us hard 😂 We ended up buying what felt like two whole shipping containers’ worth of materials, feeling pretty confident. But then—every time we opened a new ingredient, it was either neon-bright or hit us with that intense artificial fragrance. We just looked at each other, fell silent, stared at all that stuff… and went, “Ermmm… let’s just give up.”

Two days later, we decided to start over—from the very basics. We went back to the most “humble” way of making tea: brewing a pot of milk tea from scratch. And honestly, as old saying goes—the simplest things are often the hardest. We burned countless pots, adjusted ratios again and again, tried every brand of milk, tweaked timing and temps over and over… until finally… we were happy.
And that, my friends, is how CLASSIC BOBA was born.
